Events are a great time to attract foot traffic and potential return customers! Many annual events bring people downtown and around Greenfield, and the more we can promote in connection to the event, the more likely folks are to not only attend, but EXPLORE. Many engagement ideas are easy to execute, with a little pre-planning. We've listed some ideas below and also share specific engagement ideas with specific events as they come around each year.

When you offer a special, sale, or activity, we will list it with the event itself, on VisitGreenfieldMA.com and any social media pages, and YOU can list your special, sale, or activity on VisitGreenfieldMA.com as well to add more specific details and be able to get numbers on visits to "your event" after the fact, which can help you know if people were interested in what you had going on.

Annual Bee Weekend

Did you know the modern beehive was invented in Greenfield?!

Every year on the third Saturday in May, Greenfield celebrates Lorenzo Langstroth and his internationally known modern beekeeping hive. 2025 marks the 15th Annual Bee Fest, which drew hundreds downtown last year, as folks young and old came together to paint hives, taste honey, and bid on the fabulous auction items gathered throughout the year.

Don't miss out on the extra foot traffic ~ consider hosting your own Bee Fest related special, sale, or activity to bring people into your business as they buzz around Greenfield.

Here are some ideas:

  • Sponsor a Bee Lamppost Sign by April 25th (to ensure it is hung in time for Bee Weekend)
  • Participate in the Greenfield Day BEE WASH on April 26th - sign up solo or with a group to give the Bee Sculptures a good washing
  • Hand out Bee Coloring pages and have them returned to your business to hang in your windows - we'll provide the pages, you invite them back
  • Bee OPEN all weekend, Friday - Sunday, May 16th - 18th
  • Open at 9 AM on Saturday, May 17th to catch folks attending the Bee Fest & Farmer's Market
  • Restaurants & Beverage spots: Offer a cocktail special, beverage tasting, or menu item featuring honey
  • Retail spots: Center bee, flower, and agriculture related items - put them in your front windows, offer a sale on them, create an interior display
  • Dress in yellow and black...maybe even some antennas?!
  • Offer a discount to anyone wearing yellow and black
  • Participate in the GBA's Bee Scavenger Hunt during Bee Weekend

Once you decide HOW you want to participate, let us know! We'll post your specials, sales, and activities on VisitGreenfieldMA.com, related Social Media pages, talk about them on the radio, include them in print ads about the weekend, and TALK YOU UP!!

Support the Greenfield Farmer's Market

The Greenfield Farmers’ Market, now in its 51st year, is seeking donations to help the market continue to operate successfully. The recent acquisition of their beautiful new permanent bee-themed sign for the Greenfield Common was a big lift, and they'd love some help from the hive!

The market is a crucial forum for local farmers and artisans to sell to the community, and they use the vendor fees to pay the market manager’s salary and provide for small administrative needs. YOUR support would allow the Farmer's Market to give their amazing manager, Hannah Logan, a raise, hire an assistant, and print much-neede tote bags.

The market is an essential part of our micro-business community, and serves Greenfield YEAR-ROUND, thanks to Hannah's hard work establishing a winter market. Local individuals using SNAP can find local vendors AND receive HIP benefits as they shop. Donors are acknowledged with name and/or logo in their weekly newsletter and social media sites, and posted at the market.

All donations can be sent to Greenfield Farmers’ Market, P.O. Box 802, Greenfield, MA 01302. Questions and other outreach can be sent to Trouble Mandeson. Thank you for your consideration!
